Disclaimer: Ontario Mold Remediation does not encourage killing mold without the use of a properly trained mold removal specialist. Attempting to remove mold by ones self can be extremely hazardous. The instructions below are for educational purposes.

Although bleach can be an effective agent used to kill mold, it can only do so on certain surfaces. Any non porous surfaced such as tiles, bathtub surrounds or countertops can have their surface mold remediated. Porous surfaces such as wood will not kill mold at its root and in essence will be ineffective.

Step 1: Mix a solution of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water.

Step 2: Apply the solutions to a dry sponge or cloth. Do no spray the mold directly as this may cause drippings which can move mold to other areas that are not infected.

Step 3: Wipe the inspected area thoroughly and dry it afterwards. On surfaces like kitchen countertops where food is prepared or served, clean the area thoroughly as bleach may be harmful when ingested.
